Land Registry house price data for August

There were 98,513 residential and commercial land and property sales in England and Wales in August, which is up from 93,400 a month earlier, fresh property price paid data from the Land Registry shows.

The figures reveal that there were 74,734 freehold properties, along with 7,198 new build properties logged for registration.

In terms of property type, 26,515 of the properties put forward for registration were terraced, 26,056 were semi-detached, 22,782 detached, 17,085 flats/maisonettes, while there were also 6,075 ‘other’ property types.

In total, 31,953 sales took place across England and Wales in August, including 663 homes that were acquired for £1 million-plus, with more than half – 392 – of these transactions taking place in London.

The most expensive residential sale in August was of a flat in Knightsbridge, SW1, for £18.25 million.

The most expensive commercial sale in August was in Reading for £60.6 million.The cheapest residential sale in August was of a terraced property in Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, for £5,300.
