How to make the most of a small garden
If your property only has a very small garden or just a back yard then don't think that it can't be enjoyed, small design changes can make a huge difference, here are a few ideas to maximise your space:
1. Build up, not out
When you have limited ground space it's important to make the most of the vertical space avaliable. Raised beds, climbers, window boxes and hanging baskets are all great ways of brightening your garden without using much space at all.
2. Install potted plants
Potted plants take up less space and can be moved around easily, this moveable landscabe is great for a small garden/yard as it allows you to control the amount of space you need day to day.
3. Be clever with storage
The chances are you won't have room for a shed within your garden so you need to be creative with your storage. No matter what the size of your garden you will want to sit out in it in nice weather so try and buy garden furniture with built in storage, box chest style benches are perfect as they will allow you to store cushions, garden tools, extra chairs etc usefully.
4. Consider your colours
Believe it or not colours can actually create the illusion of space. Cool colours such as blues will make your garden look bigger as will plants will silvery tones.
5. Lay a path
A small flagged path to the end section of your garden will allow room for a lawn or raised bed on either site of the path making the whole garden look bigger.
