Enjoying your garden this winter
Winter has now arrived and as temperatures get chillier it is easy to forget about you garden and stay wrapped up indoors. This needn't be the case though; there are so many ways to enjoy your garden throughout this magical season:
1. Invest in outdoor heating
If you want to make the most of your garden year-round you should think about investing in some outdoor heating. You can get gas or electric powered heaters or more traditional chimneas and firepits, Argos have a large selection of outdoor heating as will many local garden centres.
2. Gaze at the stars
Cold, dry weather makes the perfect star gazing conditions and winter provides some beautiful evenings. To make the most of them why not head into the garden armed with a thick duvet and some hot chocolate and gaze at the night’s sky.
3. Have a BBQ!
You may think we have gone mad but as winter is a relatively dry month a BBQ can be a great alternative to the traditional Christmas party. Invite friends and family round all wrapped up and offer them festive warm drinks such as Mulled Wine and Egg Nog, serve up hot BBQ food such as sausages and burgers and finish the evening off with some toasted marshmallows. A great night in-outdoors!
4. Tidy up your garden
There isn't that much actual gardening you can do in the winter but you can prepare your garden for spring. Use the time to repair fences, scoop up fallen leaves, order your spring and summer seeds and collect any fallen plant or flower leaves to prevent disease spreading.
5. Get your garden ready for Christmas
Don't just decorate inside your home this Christmas spread the festivities outdoor and decorate your garden. A string of lights and outdoor decorations on garden trees can subtly turn your garden into a winter wonderland.
