New ethical homeware store, Greenstead Boutique, launches online
If you are struggling to find stylish yet ethical homewares for your property then Greenstead Boutique could be the answer. The online store is a treasure trove of ‘one of a kind’ gifts and beautifully crafted home accessories to add to your home.
Company Director, Isobel Armstrong (a former buyer for The White Company) launched the website after moving from the hustle and bustle of London to rural Scotland where she identified a gap in the market. She wanted to establish a collection of home accessories that would look as good in a country cottage as they would in a London townhouse; “Living in London it became tiresome seeing the same old products appearing from one shop to the next-the so called Ikea effect.”
The online boutique prides itself on supporting local craftspeople and young designers, something Isobel is passionate about “I want to ensure Greenstead work with organisations who keep artisanal crafts alive through fair-trade partnerships.” The result is a beautiful collection of unique gifts, textiles and home accessories that make fantastic additions to your home.
Here’s a pick of our favourites:
These woven jute baskets would look beautifully elegant on a slate hearth filled with logs or as a modern taken on a magazine rack. They have been sourced from a fair-trade organisation that offers communities in Bangladesh sustainable living by providing a stable market for their crafts.
These wooden chopping boards are made from mango wood and come with a leather tie which makes them perfect for hanging up. The mango wood is eco-friendly as the wood comes from old trees that have stopped bearing fruit so the trees are used for wood and new fruit bearing trees are planted in their place.
These lamps are exclusive to Greenstead Boutique and made by British carpenter George Johnson, the lamps are hand turned and sprayed lightly with off white paint to maintain their rustic charm. The lamps are made to order so will take around 2-3 weeks to arrive from the time of order.
These rustic frames would make a unique addition to your home. Each frame is made from reclaimed timber, as a result no two are they same. The come from an organisation in Cape Town who work with the homeless offering them opportunities to get off the streets and back to work. They are available in white, taupe, grey and cream.
